LTS Staff Accomplishments - Spring 2016

Richard Bauer, Senior Database Analyst, will be presenting a talk entitled "Banner XE at Lehigh" at the upcoming Pennsylvania Banner Users Group (PABUG) Tech Day at Duquesne University, May 31 and June 1.

Ilhan Citak, Archives & Special Collections Librarian, presented a number of talks locally and regionally including "Local History Resources at Lehigh Libraries" for the Williams Township Historical Society, "Local History Resources at Lehigh Libraries" for the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, "25 Years Ago at Lehigh" for the Lehigh Human Resources 25 Year Club, "Lehigh History Trivia" for the Lehigh Alumni Association's "Back to the Classroom" program, and "Building Philadelphia Area Digital Collections: From Project to Plan to Program" presented with Rob Weidman at the PACSCL CLIR Hidden Collections meeting, University of Pennsylvania.

Gale Fritsche, Manager of Desktop Computing, presented the following sessions at national conferences: "Understanding Windows 10" at 2015 the SIGUCCS National Conference in November 2015; "Enhancing Performance Through Collaboration and Communication" at Educause Connect Denver, March 2016; "Developing Frontline Managers who Lead" at 2016 Educause Connect Miami, April 2016.

Keith Hartranft, Chief Information Security Officer received the ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) Certification in March 2016.

Julia Maserjian, Digital Scholarship Project Manager, and co-principal investigator Dr. Seth Moglen, Department of English, were awarded a Mellon Digital Humanities grant to partner with the Steelworkers' Archives to process existing and collect new interviews of women who worked at Bethlehem Steel. The interviews will be added as a collection, "Women of Bethlehem Steel," to Beyond Steel: An Archive of Lehigh Valley Industry and Culture.

Patrick Murphy, Lead Network Technician, passed the exam to receive the BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) credential as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). This telecommunication industry credential is the top achievement and most challenging design credential to obtain, with only 6000 RCDD's world wide and is awarded after rigorous testing that demonstrates knowledge in the design, implementation and integration of information transport systems and related infrastructure.

Brian Posivak, Network Technician, obtained his ITS Installer 2, Optical Fiber certification in July 2015.
