Coming Soon - EWFM Library Floor Numbering Improvements

Have you ever been confused about floor numbering in the E. W. Fairchild-Martindale (EWFM) Library & Computing Center? You’re not alone! A dual numbering system, where the main library entrance is the “1st floor” but also the “400 level,” is about to be simplified. Finding offices, classrooms, and materials in EWFM will soon be easier.

Over the 2016-17 winter break, LTS will begin using a consistent floor numbering system. Floor numbers in the elevators will correspond with room and floor numbers. The locations in the ASA Library catalog will also match the floor levels.

The improved EWFM Library numbering scheme will be:

  • 3rd floor, (300 level) where the café and the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) are located
  • 4th floor, (400 level) is the main entrance floor where the Help Desk and Circulation desk are located
  • 5th floor, (500 level) with group collaboration and study space as well as the new collaborative classroom in room 520
  • 6th floor, (600 level) houses most of the library collections
  • 7th floor, (700 level) with collections and quiet study space
  • In the EWFM Computing Center:

  • The main entrance to the Computing Center is located on the 3rd floor, (300 level)
  • Below that is the 2nd floor, (200 level) where LTS staff offices and the EWFM 292 public computer lab is located
  • The lowest level is the 1st floor, (100 level), with the public computing site known as the “Pit”, and the Student Technology and Repair Services service point.
  • These changes will make locations in the E. W. Fairchild-Martindale Library and Computing Center consistent so that faculty, staff, students, and visitors will be able to easily locate classrooms, offices, and library materials within the building.
