Library and Technology Services is excited to introduce the Hatchery through our partnership with the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation, and we invite all students to apply to this summer program. Beginning late May, we will host the student idea accelerators in Fairchild-Martindale Library’s new 6th floor creative space, an area designed to be open and flexible for supporting student and faculty experimentation, innovation, and creating new forms of scholarly output.
Built on the success of LaunchBayC, the Hatchery will provide an overarching community for student engagement in the “creativity to innovation to entrepreneurial action” continuum. Students will be placed in “Nests” centered around specific topics. Teams will form within Nests and students will develop world positive entrepreneurial solutions.
In collaboration with Lehigh’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CITL), faculty and Nest leaders will integrate innovative tools and resources into the program. Students will have opportunities to use digital media tools and virtual or augmented reality in our creative spaces, such as the Digital Media Studio, Visualization Lab, and the One Button Studio. Workshops, guest experts, coaches and mentors will also support the students’ efforts.
The Hatchery is open to all students. We welcome distinctive viewpoints and believe innovation occurs at the intersection of disciplines. Students may apply until April 30th for the 12 week, full time immersion program that has been described as “an internship where I’m developing my ideas and my future!”

Library and Technology Services looks forward to helping cultivate the student entrepreneurial spirit through programs like the Hatchery, and providing spaces, services, and resources that support collaboration, creativity, and innovation at Lehigh.
