The Lehigh University Libraries are excited to announce two children’s author reading events this Summer in the LTS CIRCLE at the E.W. Fairchild-Martindale Library. Please join us on Wednesday, June 14th and Friday, July 14th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an interactive reading by Dr. LaToya Council, an author, activist, and public intellectual and Assistant Professor of Sociology and Africana Studies at Lehigh University. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided, and the program will close with an activity. One free copy of Dr. Council's book will be provided for the first 25 families who register.

The events are free and open to the public. Please RSVP at https://go.lehigh.edu/kidsreading

Dr. Council will be reading and leading an interactive discussion of two of her works written with co-authors, IntersectionAllies: We Make Room for All (June 14th) and Love without Bounds: An IntersectionAllies Book about Families (July 14th). Dr. Council creates a safe and engaging space for children to learn along with her about important but complex topics like intersectionality, family differences, gender, race, and inequality. Her reading and books can provide children and their families an opportunity to begin to engage with these topics in a conversation centered in love and community.

While these are books written for children, all are welcome and people of any age can learn new ways to approach these important concepts from this event. We look forward to seeing you and learning with you!

The E.W. Fairchild-Martindale Library is located at 8 East Packer Ave, Bethlehem, PA 18015. The reading will be held in the LTS CIRCLE, which is located on the fourth floor. Paid parking is available to the public on East Packer Avenue and other adjacent roads via the ParkMobile app.
