Lois Fischer Black, Curator of Special Collections, was re-elected to a 3-year term on the Board of Directors of PACSCL, the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries.

Amanda Caton, Manager, Systems Engineering, and Jim Monek, Director, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, co-presented Using Agile Methodology for IT Infrastructure Projects at the NERCOMP annual conference on March 20, 2019.

llhan Citak, Archives and Special Collections Librarian, moderated and presented Urban renewal and housing segregation in archives: resurrecting lost neighborhoods at MARAC (Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference) with Lehigh professors Kim Carrell-Smith and Karen Beck Pooley in Morgantown, WV on April 13, 2019.

Gale Fritsche, Assistant Director, Computing and Distributed Support Services, Amanda Caton, Manager, Systems Engineering, and Jim Monek, Director, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, co-presented LUapps: Software Anytime, Anywhere, on Any Device! at the NERCOMP annual conference on March 19, 2019.

Dan Huang, Acquisitions Librarian, co-presented Print on Demand Ebooks: Books Your Way with Ingram Lightning Source and Wiley Publishing at the 2019 Electronic Resources & Libraries conference in Austin, TX in March, 2019.

Devin Jayetileke, Library/Computing Assistant, is co-founder of the newly-formed Lehigh Drivers Club and is serving as club advisor. The club is for car enthusiasts, and the group sponsors field trips, meetings, and car talks, as well as helps students with car-related problems.

Stacey Kimmel-Smith, Assistant Director, Client Services, completed her ITILv3 Foundations certification (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).

Stacey Kimmel-Smith, Assistant Director, Client Services, Jim Monek, Director, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, Brad Price, Senior Computing Consultant and Manager, Rossin College of Engineering Support Team, and Eric Zematis, Chief Information Security Officer attended the inaugural Lehigh Leadership Academy (LLA). LLA is a week long off-campus leadership training focused on authentic leadership, values, and self-awareness. Candidates for the program are selected through nominations. Human Resources staff facilitated the sessions.

Wayne Mery, Senior Analyst, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, has been elected to a fifth term on the Thunderbird Council, which manages the operations and development of the open source Thunderbird email client. The council manages $1.5 million of annual funds to support the product and community known as the Thunderbird Project, under the umbrella of the Mozilla Foundation. Wayne served as Secretary of the Council for the previous term, and is elected to Secretary again for the current term.

Jim Monek, Director, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, served as a reviewer contributor for ITIL Foundation: ITIL v4 Edition. ITIL 4 provides the guidance organizations need to address new service management challenges and utilize the potential of modern technology.

Brian Posivak, Network Technician, attended the Global Knowledge class CIPTV2: Implementing Cisco IP Telephony & Video, Part 2. In February, Brian was one of 10 subject matter experts selected from an international pool to sit on the BICSI Job Task and Analysis study to update/reorganize the newest edition of the Information Technology Systems Installation Methods Manual.  BICSI is a global professional association supporting the advancement of the information and communications technology (ICT) community, and the manual Brian worked on is a global industry reference for the common installation practices of copper and optical fiber.

Sharon Wiles-Young, Director, Library Access, discussed the new library platform project, FOLIO, on a panel titled Librarians are doin' it for themselves: Developing our own open-source ILS, with Dracine Hodges (Duke University) and Holly Mistlebauer (Cornell University) at the Association of College and Research Libraries conference (ACRL) in Cleveland, OH on April 12, 2019.

John Zekind, Data Architect, was awarded the Executive Certificate in Project Sponsorship from Lehigh University’s Vistex Institute for Executive Learning and Research in November, 2018 and Cloud Practitioner Certification from Amazon Web Services in April, 2019.
