Lehigh’s student-run gaming club, the Esports Association, will hold a 24-hour, in-person and live-streamed “Gaming for Good” event next month at the EWFM Computing Center.
All proceeds will be donated to Extra Life, a charitable organization founded by video gamers in 2008, which brings together thousands of charity gamers from around the world to play in support of children’s hospitals. The organization has raised more than $40 million since it began and in 2010, Extra Life became affiliated with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Lehigh gamers will be raising funds while they compete.
The event will be held in the EWFM Computing Center (lower level “Pit”) from 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1 to 12:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2.
Esports Association board member Michael Boyko ‘20 said the group is excited to bring “Gaming for Good” once again to the EWFM Computing Center, which is open 24/7 during fall and spring semesters. “It’s great to be able to use video games as a vehicle to rally around and support a great cause,” he said.
Come for open play and tournaments, prizes in your favorite games, and of course, late night pizza! League of Legends, Hearthstone, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Overwatch, Dota2, Smash, Fortnite will be live streamed at twitch.tv/lehighesports.
