Users of Fairchild-Martindale Library will notice additional seating and natural light on the second and third floors in the Mart wing. This space reallocation has been made possible by the recent purchase of a number of digital journal archives. Many more of our journals are now accessible electronically on or off-campus, from volume one to the present, and in the digital format that our faculty and students now strongly prefer.
Over the past year, the library has obtained archival backfiles from a number of publishers, including Royal Society of Chemistry, Sage, Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, and SIAM.
In addition to making space available for other purposes, electronic access to journal archives makes immediately accessible the older literature in a field.
Lehigh's online catalog, ASA, includes all the archival holdings, and the "A to Z" electronic journal list available off the library homepage makes them readily accessible. Also, they can be accessed via the SFX link resolver.
Librarians are interested in hearing from faculty and students about other journal backfiles that they are most anxious to see in digital format. Contact Brian Simboli (firstname.lastname@example.org)
