The Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries is proud to announce the formation of a newly funded Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellowship. The fellowship provides $5,000 to faculty (of any rank or any discipline) to explore, reflect upon, and create scholarship produced with digital tools and presented in digital form. In collaboration with the Friends, The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning will oversee the Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellowship program. Successful applicants for the Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellowship will 1) collaborate with Library and Technology Services staff and 2) focus on one or more of the following:
- • Address a scholarly question through new research methods or new ways of representing research, to include creating or improving digital resources and tools;
- • Invite interdisciplinary collaboration ranging from undergraduate students to senior researchers;
- • Develop digital scholarship projects tied to the curriculum and research;
- • Address dissemination and preservation issues.
This funding will support projects for academic year 2014/2015 and is intended for the development of prototypes, demonstration projects, or fully formed projects.
The fellowship will support release time*, stipend, and/or a graduate assistant. The fellowship does not support the creation or conversion of a scholarly journal, conferences or professional meetings, acquisition of computer equipment or software, preparation or publication of articles or textbooks, or the addition of new content to an existing digital project.
Awards will be announced in January 2014 for work beginning in August 2014. At the conclusion of the funding period, Fellowship results will be presented at a campus-wide, Friends-sponsored event.
