Student Technology and Repair Services (STARS)

In January of this year, the Library & Technology Services (LTS) WIRED Program (World-wide Information Resources in Every Dorm) received a name change. The new name, Student Technology and Repair Services (STARS), was chosen because it better reflects the services that are offered and needed by the current generation of Lehigh students.

While the name of the service has changed, the primary mission of STARS is still the same - to assist Lehigh students with their personal computing devices so that they can complete their coursework. Some of the more common issues students need assistance with include operating system problems, virus infections, hardware troubleshooting, course software installations, and data recovery.

Within LTS, the STARS team works closely with the Helpdesk who refer students with technology issues and Computer Repair Services who perform hardware repairs when needed. Outside of LTS, STARS works most closely with Residential Services to support the technology needs of on-campus residents, and with the Office of First-Year Experience (OFYE) to introduce new students to the services offered by LTS.

Staff and Location

STARS is managed by Bruce Eisenhard (bae2@lehigh.edu) who is located in room 294 of the Computing Center. The team consists of 25-30 student Technology Consultants who are trained to work on both Mac and Windows PC issues. All work takes place at the STARS Desk which is located on the bottom floor of the Computing Center.

During the academic year the STARS Desk is open Monday thru Friday from 10AM - 8PM and is always staffed by a Technology Consultant. Students with technology-related issues can simply drop off their device to be worked on and will be notified when it is ready for pickup.
