As chief official White House photographer, Pete Souza spent more time alongside President Barack Obama than almost anyone else. His years photographing the president gave him an intimate behind-the-scenes view of the unique gravity of the office of the presidency--and the tremendous responsibility that comes with it.
Fifty of Souza’s iconic photographs, taken during the President’s two terms in office, are on display now in the Fairchild-Martindale Library Study Gallery (6th floor south). Obama: An Intimate Portrait runs through February 28, 2020.
Souza will share stories from his life as a photojournalist and his career as the president’s photographer in a free public talk at 5 pm, Thursday, February 6 at Packard Lab 101. Registration is required (opens Jan. 16).
