Continuing the Lehigh University Libraries' celebration of baseball that began with the July opening of the Linderman exhibit “Batting Around America’s National Pastime: The Cultural Impact of Baseball,” author and journalist Geoff Gehman will be giving a talk titled "Shoeless Joe, the Babe & the Steel: The Highly Unlikely 1918 Bethlehem Steel League."

Gehman is a Lehigh alumnus and will be speaking about the creation of six baseball teams by Bethlehem Steel and its place in American culture. The talk will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29 in Linderman Room 200, The Scheler Humanities Forum, and is open to all those interested. Bring your lunch and learn about Shoeless Joe Jackson, Babe Ruth, and other major leaguers who avoided the World War I draft by playing and working for military mills.
