At approximately 8:10 a.m. EDT today Library and Technology Services began receiving reports that some users were unable to access Zoom Meetings or Webinars via https://lehigh.zoom.us.
At 8:51 a.m. Zoom reported on their Status Page that they were receiving reports of users around the world unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars. At 9:50 a.m., Zoom reported that they had identified the issue and were working on a fix.
By 11:00 a.m. Zoom had restored most of their service. At that time, nearly 200 Lehigh Zoom meetings were in progress.
This was not the experience any of us wanted for our first day of classes, and we thank you for your patience and creativity in finding alternate ways to communicate while Zoom resolved their issue.
While we don’t expect this to happen again, we encourage everyone to have a backup communication plan in place (even if it’s just “check email for alternate meeting plans if you are unable to log in’’) so anyone expecting to meet in Zoom knows what to do if they are unable to log into a scheduled Zoom meeting.
If you have any questions or lingering problems, please contact the LTS Help Desk at (610) 758-4357 or by email at email@example.com. You can always find updates on any Lehigh service outages at https://lts.lehigh.edu/status.
